Hibernating, progression and cycles
Linear progression or natural cycles?

I had a call with an accountability buddy earlier today who asked me where I'd like to be in six months.
I said I want to spend the next six months hibernating. What does this look like? Slowing down, listening to my body, reading books, unlearning and reflecting on the year to come.
Capitalist society tells us we should be on a linear path of progression. Constantly striving to move upwards with no time to pause, reflect or dare I say it regress! We label childhood developments as "regressions" if they do not follow linear paths. Adults are viewed as strange for not climbing the career ladder and leaving behind salaried jobs for new horizons. We are constantly pushed to grow, be more productive and wealthy without questionning why or whether this is even possible.
As the weather turns to Autumn, leaves fall from the trees and start to decay; I invite you to be reminded of the cycles of nature. What are the things you want to shed in coming months? Which parts of yourself will you hold onto to take forwards into Spring? and most importantly will you carve out time over Autumn and Winter for rest so you have enough energy to spring forth when days start getting longer?
